The Pimpernel products are manufactured using the highest quality cork and hardboard with printing standards which remain the envy of our competitors. However, it is the unique lacquer spray applied to the surface of the mats which provides the real point of difference and superiority. Pimpernel mats have completely sealed edges, high heat resistance, a smooth silky finish and almost complete resistance to any kind of scuff marks and stains.

Pimpernel announced in 2005 that it will no longer be distributing in the US. We do however still have inventory of Pimpernel Products originally from Pimpernel. If its on our site it is still available and in stock while quantities last.

About Pimpernel Placemats and Coasters

Pimpernel placemats have been manufactured using the same high quality standards for years. Using top quality eucalyptus wood and cork, farmed from environmentally managed forests. Each place mat has a unique protective coating which gives almost complete resistance to any kind of scuff marks or stains. Pimpernel placemats are also heat resistant to 110°C (230°F), easy to wipe clean and will not peel away at the edges, even after repeated use.

After 70 years, the method of construction and quality of Pimpernel mats remains unsurpassed within the placemat market. So what happened to Pimpernel? I thought they were no longer available in the US?

Truth be told, we were confused just as much as everyone else. We are more then happy to explain what we understand the situation to be, however, please keep in mind it is only our opinion and interpretation. It is offered to you so you can make your own informed decision and form your own opinion. In the later part of 2006, Pimpernel US informed us that they were no longer serving the US market. Which is why our inventory and selection of items is minimal of this original Pimpernel product. Starting in early 2007, the Pimpernel name reappeared, however, it is being distributed within the US market by Portmeirion. While they claim that the manufacturing process is the same and has the quality assurance of Portmeirion behind them, not to mention that we personally we have a great deal of respect for Portmeirion and their exceptional products, we at this point in time are simply not willing to offer them to our customers until we are confident that they are truly living up to the original Pimpernel product that we have all come to know and had grown accustomed to. Be aware, there have recently been several look alike companies offering what appear to be similar hard board placemats on the market today. They are being offered at a lower price and with good reason as they are of an inferior quality. 

The good news is one company that does not fall into that category are Jason Products. Jason Placemats and Coasters, their products, selection, and manufacturing processes of hard board placemats are of the highest quality on the market. No exceptions in our opinion.
