The Smashing Glass collection is a unique range of individually handcrafted coasters and servers proudly made in New Zealand. With an emphasis on fun, modern and individualistic the design choices in the Smashing Glass range is full of variety. The collection is made up of three distinct design categories: paua, hand painted and frost.

 

 

Paua - Unique to New Zealand coastal waters, paua shell is the most colourful of all the abalone shells. Colours vary from greens and pinks to purples and blues. When viewed from different angles, the colours change with an iridescence similar to that of Mother of Pearl shell, but are far more brilliantly coloured. Some of the paua shell used in the Smashing Glass range have been colour tinted to further enhance the decorative nature of the shell.

 

Hand Painted - By using a combination of screen printing and hand painting the hand painted Smashing Glass designs are modern, fresh and vibrant. There are a wide variety of designs to suit from Pukekos and Tapa to Pohutukawa and Kiwi icons to name a few. Each piece has been individually hand painted to create a look that is casual and unique.

 

Frost - Created by sand-blasting and/or screen-printing the combination of white frosting and clear glass creates a soft subtle look that is timeless. Some of the designs include Kiwis, Koru, Silver Ferns and Kiwiana.
