Artesania Rinconada figurines are individually hand carved from a flat mold. Making each piece unique and distinctive from others of it’s kind. After they are carved, they are kiln fired. Each piece is hand-painted and is then fired for a second time. The Classic designs require these two steps. However, all Silver Anniversary and De Rosa Box Figurines are fired a third time to obtain the 18 karat gold and platinum paint accents.
Artesania Rinconada is a Spanish name which means “Art of the Corner” or “Corner Art.” The name derives from Jesus and Javier Carbajales who began designing the Rinconada figurines in a corner of their home. They began making them as gifts for friends and family. Artesania means “art” and Rinconada comes from the word “Rincon” which means “corner” describing the type of art.
